ECAT AND THE NEW ENERGY LABEL: THE EXPERIENCE OF EDIEL ITALIA ABOUT CHANGING
On march, 1st the 2017/1369 Guidelines from European Parliament became law. These Guidelines rule the adoption of the new energy label, projected by BELT – Boost Energy Label Takeup – from Horizon 2020 to promote and spread appliances that are more efficient.
THE MAIN CHANGES
A new classification removes + symbols: no more classifications like A+++, A++, which could be confusing. The new classes range between A (more efficient) and G (less efficient)
More information on the label: new information are introduced, like noise level and specific pictograms for each kind of datasheets
Interaction with the consumer: a QRCode allows user to access from his smartphone or tablet the new EU Products Database (Eprel) to receive additional information on the product he is watching
Each category has its own energy label: seven product categories has been detected, each one of them with a specific energy label, for a better identification of the features.

THE TRANSITION FROM OLD AND NEW ENERGY LABEL ON OUR ECAT DATA MANAGER PLATFORM
Among Retailers, consumer electronic brands had the more difficult task, because they had to replace the energy label for almost their entire catalogue
We supported our customers both for retailers catalogues and for Ecat Data Manager platform – Wins electronic catalogue for the entire consumer electronic supply chain which contains all the products that can be sold in Italy and from which all the retailers get the product datasheets to fill their own catalogues. Ecat Data Manager is managed by the Trade Association Ediel.
We asked Ediel a feedback regarding the transition to the new rules and the related feature available on the platform with the release published at the end of 2020:
